Happy New Year to all!

As we go into 2008, it is going to be hard to forget 2007. What a challenge we saw in the Turf and Landscape Business. Mother Nature always keeps us on our toes.

This column is going to be a new challenge for me. I am going to pass along information monthly on what’s going on in the Turf & Landscape Industry, and also pass along a few tips on maintaining your turf and landscape throughout the year.

Now is a good time to consider an organic feed on your turf whether you have a cool-season Fescue Turf or a warm-season Bermuda Turf.  On a nice warm winter day, with organics down, the biology in your soil really gets excited! This helps your root system which in turn gives you a healthier plant. If your turf established well in the fall, start planning for your pre-emergent application. I do caution making this application if your Fescue Turf is not mature. Please call if you have questions concerning this issue.

The industry has several events coming up this winter :

In closing if you are in the Landscape or Turf Maintenance business in middle Tennessee I encourage you to attend a P.L.A.N.T. event. This is a group of businesses who work hard on the professionalism in our industry. Watch out around that next corner Mother Nature will be there.
